Let's go!

Hello everyone! Next week we are having Planillas at Prepa Tec, planillas is when we give food to promote ourselves in the school, so people can vote for us to be the next in charge of the student council. For this week blog I would post opinion of a person that already realized BASE jumping, and with this, you can get an idea of how is making BASE jumping.

“BASE jumping is without a doubt my favorite sport in the world. If I had to give up all other activities and keep only one, it would be BASE. The feeling you get when you leap off of a stationary object is like nothing else in the world. NOTHING. You are jumping into dead space, with absolutely no noise or wind resistance. Since the object starts from a standstill, you experience the full effect of acceleration toward terminal velocity. This is entirely different form jumping out of a noisy airplane that already has velocity and is creating wind resistance. Don’t get me wrong. Jumping out of an airplane still fells incredible, but just cannot touch a fixed object exit”. (Troyhartman)

This adventurist also comment in his blog that BASE jumping has little “secrets” because is illegal in a huge number of places.  Try something new, and ALWAYS use the right protection for your safety. And remember:

LET’S GO, WHEREVER YOU JUMP; TAKE ONLU PICTURES, LEAVE ONLY FOOTPRINTS!

  1. I am impressed with the people that have no fear to anything at all, I in the contrary am scared of so many things, so I think I could be called a nerd or I don´t know how they named the people that are very coward, but anyways I am glad that people have dangerous hobbies because that means that these people are happy and like to enjoy life. One thing I do really love are the roller coasters, I really love and enjoy been in a roller coaster, so if you want to take me to a recreational park or something I will love you even more. Thank you :)

  2. : I liked your topic because really I wanted to try to jump!. In fact, I’ve never tried; always I say that it is like a crazy act but after your argument I was analyzing and I am agree with you. Also it looks very funny and it will be an unforgettable experience. Of course depending on the person I think it has their advantages and disadvantages but on the positive way it can be that the fact of jumping take away the stress that each people had accumulated so it is a way to forget about problems. A disadvantage may be that the people feel bad because of health problems or something similar.
Finally an important information that I think that completes your argument is that base jumps are generally made from much lower altitudes than skydives, and a base jump takes place close to the object serving as the jump platform. Because base jumps generally entail slower airspeeds than typical skydives.
So finally your information change my way of thinking because at the beginning my position was that to jump on that manner is crazy but after your explanation was totally the opposite.

  3. Talking about the planillas, I am looking forward to it! I hope there will be delicious food, like always. I also hope that our hot dogs will help UP to get votes :D And now, about your topic:
Wow! I'd love to experience base jumping :P It looks really cool. I'd love to feel the adrenaline pumping through my body! Even though it looks scary, I bet it feels really cool. I think it would be really cool to climb "El cerro de la silla" and then jump with a wing-suit on. I remember seing a lot of people jumping from mountains here in monterrey on weekends. Sometimes we would be driving to get to the mall, and my father would point to men wearing parachutes in the sky and say: "Look Felipe! They are flying!"

It would also be cool if base jumping was combined with another sport. Imagine someone jumping of a building with a parachute, and someone else throwing a ball at him or something. I think that would be kinda fun.
Keep up the good work Yaressi, have a nice weekend!
